IMO: the house does not look like it is being digested by nature.

Nope, just trying to get some solid black and white images. It may not look it, but the house was vacant, in the middle of a field, plants were growing up around the porch and up the front door.

I like the composition of it and everything, but I agree that it's way too dark. The edit is better, but it still looks too dark to me.

The second edit is heading in the right direction, but still not quite there.

I would try managing the houe color to make that bright paint much less garish to see if that you get a better impact

This straight from the .dng, no editing whatsoever, just resized it.

What are you using to convert to B&W?

I did some edits to the color photo in Camera Raw and used a B&W adjustment layer in Photoshop.

Im probably overprocessing really. I edited contrast/saturation initially, saved as .tif, then made 3 images with different exposure levels, ran it through photomatix and saved the bw image after editing it a bit, then brought it back to PS and edited the contrast of just the clouds a bit
