I know the forums are like chat, but can we set up a chat room or something similar? A place where we can talk in real time would be awesome

From all I know, this forum HAS a chatroom somewhere, but no one's ever there. I tried to chat in there such a long time ago, I forgot how to get there...

Yup.. Been in and out occasionally for years and never anyone in there. I too can't remember how to get into it anymore.

Perhaps the suggestion should be...

Put a link on the front page to make it easier to find.
