Sunrise over downtown Calgary and the Rockies - Looking West

Here is a series of pictures taken yesterday morning (Apr 12/06) from about 07:00 till about 08:00. There is a hill to the east of downtown and that is where these pictures are taken from. The colours changed as the sun rose higher in the sky.

Nice series, I didn't realize you could see the mountains that well from Calgary. I guess I'm not up that early whenever I'm in Cowtown. It's usually fairly smoggy later in the day.

I have family that lives in Okotoks, they used to be able to see Calgary quite clearly all the time. The last few years, it's not that easy to see anymore.

I'll have to take a better look around, next time I'm in town.

That was a very enjoyable series - thanks for posting! The first one was a nice cityscape with the lovely early morning light hitting it, but as I scrolled down I was amazed to see how close and visible are the mountains. Beautiful spot.
