Any C&C Please ?

cool idea but there are a few issues i have with it.

1. its way underexposed, there are almost no details in it.
2. lightpost looks out of focus, and in fact is distracting. id like to see it cropped out.
3. clouds are neat but not strong enough to make the photo.
4. i like the people in it, but that one group in the middle is all i want. the rest of the people id like to see removed...

Thank you Photocist, for your detailed analysis; this was shot taken using compact camera

I approve to your suggestions, except that of the lamp post; i think it is not that sharp; but that is included as the supporting POI in the image; as you realized, the main interest is the group in the centre; but to original nature of beach which is not a private property, i feel there must be some more people; i too feel bad that the clouds are not powerful :grumpy:

Thanking you so much for sharing your feelings

Regards :D

Interesting image - I agree the post is key to it. The post, the sun, the middle group and the highlights in the water form a strong composition. I might get rid of some of the other people (crop the left?) and try to bring up a little more detail in the shadows. Perhaps also some more highlights in the clouds - they look a bit muddy. Just some thoughts ...

The parts that count are not underexposed! Have you ever squinted into a sunset over water?

The post gives depth and placement a very important part of the comp.

I feel as if I were standing at the back corner of a sea side hotel.

so you are claiming the light post adds foreground interest? i did not even think about it like that... Even so, I still feel it is distracting. maybe if i was able to see the base and if it was not distorted it would work a bit better?

Here's my take on an edit:

Beach.jpg

1) Straightened the post.
2) Lightened the beach to give more detail.
3) Got rid of some of the people to give a focal point on the beach.
4) Adjusted the tone curves to try to give more "drama" to the clouds.

My edit is not meant to "correct" your photo. It is only meant to give you a different perspective.

I like the original concept.

Thanks, Ralph

Thank you KenC

Thank you DeadEye

Thank you Bigciro

Thank you Ralph; you just did not correct me, but reinterpreted the whole story in a fantastic manner. May be that was potently there in the image i posted, but it was your effort that brought it out

Regards :D
