I have one of these things...it is REALLY handy!!! It allows me to put a second flash and umbrella on the shaft of a light stand, to do dual-umbrella lighting in the "over/under" style, which is a very soft, glamorous type lighting look. It also fits on standard household doors, which allows you to mount a flash on, well, a door!!! The threaded top accepts standard lighting fixture spigots and other 1/4x20 N.C. threaded accessories, as well as accepting "standard" monolight or pack and head flash heads on the bulkier part of the spigot.
