You're doing fine. Keep shooting those big birds and learning the tricks etc before you start chasing the little ones.

Good advise. I won't be shooting any Humming Birds anytime soon.

The reason not to shoot the little ones early on is because they are so difficult to catch and are almost always in very challenging light situations. It is too easy to get tangled up and try changing to many factors at once and not learning anything....this from the voice of experience and vast disgust at self!

...another thing to work on is getting 2 or more species in the same frame! It's tricky, but with the larger birds you can get some really unique photos.
