Thanks so much for the Wikipedia link to the Allgäu Alps region. I went there and read that--what a wonderful part of the world that must be!

Yes, the B&W treatment does have an old-timey appeal, but the "SUP" or stand-up paddle board makes this seem thoroughly modern, and recent! That is the new common abbreviation I am seeing here in the USA, SUP, for photos that have people engaged in SUP activity, which here is mostly around touristy areas, where the boards are rented out by the hour or day.

Thanks, Derrel. SUP is new to me as I had no idea what this type of board was called, but, yes, there was a small quay renting out rowing boats and pedalos just along from where I shot this, so perhaps these kids also had their SUPs from there.

The lake in the photo is the Hopfensee near Füssen and it is quite touristy (but without the usual trashiness).

Oh yes, the mountains in the Allgäu are wonderful and only about an hour and a half's drive from our home. We get down there two or three times a year, either to wander in the hills or to swim in one of the many lakes.
