I am shooting a swim/diving meet tomorrow. I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions for camera settings. I have a Nikon D80 and am shooting with a 105mm F2.0, I also have a 50 mm f1.8 and a 35mm f1.4. The natatorium is indoor and pretty small but as with most indoor sports the lighting sucks.

Thanks!

Not sure if you have one available to you, but a speedlite will help out in a dark pool environment. If not, then crank your iso way up and find the spots with the most light to get your shots. You can get some decent shots panning of faces sharp with arms moving if you time it right.

I shot a swim meet yesterday, but I'm using a bit longer zoom with the 70-200, one speedlite on camera and another set up as a remote about 8 feet up and 3/4 of the length down the pool from the starting end. Most settings run in the 1/250 @f4 range with this set up. I am about to post up a message thread with images from the meet in a few minutes. With the diving you can prefocus on the end of the board or about three feet out to get those shots. In the pool action use your AE Servo, or whatever Nikon calls the focus mode where the focus changes as you follow the action.
