Good composition tips have already been given so I'll humbly offer another take on editing options. The bright red of the tunic seemed a little 'un-battle worn' so I dulled it down, I cooled the overall tone to make it less sunny & happy then added my own fake shallow depth of field to isolate the combatants. Not sure if it helps the OP in the least but I certainly found it a fun pic to play with! Apologies if this is overstepping noob boundaries - if so, please feel free to put me straight.

I definitely appreciate any nudges in the right direction. Anyone taking any amount of time out of their day to give me a quick edit and a new idea on how to approach a photo is wonderful in my book!
