SX240 focuses well at 20x (in low light) in easy mode, but is blurry is other modes

Hi all,
I guess the title says it all. My SX240 focuses well at 20x (in low light) easy mode, but is blurry in other modes, i.e. auto, live, P, Tv, Av, and M. The basic exif values are the same, so I'm wondering why this would be.
Any thoughts are appreciated.
