Taking Pictures Preserves Memories

I've just seen that the guys who cut down a tree in GB were sentenced for 4 years. They cut it down with a chain saw. Itwas a famous tree and people would come to see it. So maybe we take pictures to preserve something in cases there are people like these [posted to YouTube by "WSJ News", Jul 15, 2025, [video length is about 5:52]:

I know I do with animals when I'm at the zoo as you never know what may happen to any of the animals, this week I went to 1 zoo and the 2 Eurasian Lynx's have gone back to their home at another zoo and the last remaining goat has gone off to be with other goats so he's not on his own any more.
It's thanks to someone taking a photo many years ago that I know what my home used to look like and it is so much different to what it looks like now, I love photos as memories as well as sometimes a historical record if that makes any sense.

There was a very pretty alley downtown which I used to photograph a lot during different seasons of the year. I'm happy I have these photos and even short video filmed in there because a couple of years ago that whole place was reorganized and the alley was gone. I spent hours in Clipify enhancing video quality because that's pretty much the only evidence it's ever been there.

Boy do I get where your coming from. I really like doing old house's, barns and homesteads. Let them go and the earth recalls them and then gone forever. had one old homestead photo I gave to a guy that owned the property and didn't shoot it again, photo neg lost in house fire. Well that old house is gone today! Photo's can certainly preserve a lot of the past!

I might add that in my kitchen is a photo of me and my old Springer Spaniel, Skipper. Miss that dog all the time and the photo is over 40 yrs old. that and memories are all I have left of him! The picture is not for sale!
