Taking stills during filming

[digitalrightnow]

I have purchased a HD camcorder that has the capacity to take stills during filming. Will taking the stills diminish the video quality? I cannot see a problem yet, but I felt I should ask, because I have not had a chance yet to test this on my regular subjects.

I believe the video will momentarily stop while the shutter releases to take a picture on a DSLR, not sure how it will work with a video camera. Looking forward to hearing about it.

Ok thanks.I noticed the recording does seem to stop when I click the shutter button.
