I was reading the booklet that came with my Holga, but I'm not entirely sure what effect taping it would have. Something I read (either in the book or online, I can't remember which) said that people have taped their entire Holga except for the lens. I'm assuming this means the inside of it? Taping where would do what? Would I use scotch tape or masking tape?

Not being a film shooter I can o.ly speculate, but my guess is its opaque tape (duct, gaffers, electrical etc.) they are using, and its to prevent light from getting in where it shouldn't.

you need to tape the back where you will find the film advanced window. make yourself a flap thing, similar to a hinge that you would use for mounting.

I have had many students with these and we never had any leaks, i mean more than 12.

just use electrical black tape, If you feel you must tape more than just the edges where the camera closes should be fine. The whole camera, is over kill imo.

OK, thanks, I get it now. Yeah, I thought taping the whole camera seemed like over kill too.
