I went to the local tea party for some fun and practice outdoors with the camera. Overcast day, so that wasn't so great.
It seems like the ones I got the focus/exposure dead on, someone was doing something like picking their nose; or, when I had the composition right the exposure seemed off or the focus was slightly off.
