I think this will not be my first attempt at this scene. Every time I drive by this, on my way to Reno, I see this vista above the old highway, the river (actually a creek, but I fudged that for the title) and the railroad, all winding toward the same point. The best view has only the narrowest pathway along the highway. The closest I can get to it with my car is about 100 yards - more than I can walk with my crusty lungs. Even on my Segway it would be a dangerous trek because of the 70-80 mph traffic.
The picture below is not from the best vantage point, but about 50 or 60 yards from it. It was still a very nice view, but I think I'm going to have to try visiting that spot on a Sunday morning, when traffic is much lighter. I think the scene is also much more dramatic in the Fall too, so I'll see if I can wait that long.
Nikon D810, Tamron SP 24-70mm F2.8 Di VC USD at 70mm, f/11, 1/640s, ISO 400, hand-held.
Thanks for viewing,
Jim
