I don't think you include or exclude things randomly, so I believe there's a reason you left the strings for the blinds in the image. I would have cropped them out, but I'm curious to hear your thoughts about leaving them in.

It is a point of return ... to our normal reality.

They were included to be suggestive of imperfection. Without the strings (and glass rod) the image could quickly become sterile. (Timor's point illustrates this, I think).

They also represent or imply chance and freewill. We don't know what lies beyond the blinds, we can deduce that there is a lot of light and there might be the suggestion of a shape (or is it just a trick of the light?), but we can't see. If we pull the strings or twist the rod we raise or spread the blinds and know: However, the perfection we have, represented by the harmonic and mesmerizing lines of the image will be lost, and what we get in its place may or may not be worth it.

I real like the image. Personally I would have cropped out the imperfections (as you describe it). This is a stark image ... a tighter crop would have enhance the starkness ... the imperfections, to my eye, are distractions. But we all see differently and we all shoot differently. Imperfections or not, I really appreciate this image.

Perhaps I'll try cropping it over the next couple of days to compare.
