Hi,

last month I visited New Orleans. I had a great time there and also made quite a lot of pictures:sexywink:.

I just wanted to share some of my favorites. Here they are. If you have any comments or critique, do not hesitate to say, what you think.

Thanks.

Wow, nice! I am going to New Orleans Thursday morning! Well, I leave Thursday morning I wont get there until late Thursday evening... And the state I live in touches LA... hahahaha

Nice, although I would I would photoshop out the tuba in number one like this:

Also, try not to go over 400 iso because it degrades the quality and adds grain. maybe you could use a longer shutter speed or lower f stop to compensate.

Edit: I know I messed up the photoshop but I did it without paying much attention ;)

How'd you enjoy the city, my hometown?

It's a great city to take images, would love to see what else you've got shots of.

Thanl you everybody for your replies, and sorry I have not replied faster.

Interesting, I also left home on Thursday morning and got to New Orleans on late Thursday night. It was only about 6 000 miles ;). Enjoy your stay there, and do not forget to take your camera. You can take lots of great pictures there.

patrick0294: Thanks for the edit, I understand what you mean, and yes, it really helped the picture. Oh, and is "tuba" really "tuba" in English? Interesting, it is the same in Czech :).
Regarding the high ISO: yes, I know it produces more noise, but in the narrow streets of French Quareter on a cloudy day, I used it sometimes anyway, knowing that I would not be able to use the full resolution of the images because of the noise. For this particular picture, the ISO could be much lower, and it was my fault not to lower it... Will try to
make better next time (and I admit I tend to forget to set it back to lower values after increasing it...).

Geaux: Click here for my set of pictures from New Orleans, there are 37 of them.
I was usually walking the French quarter or Central Business District, so most of the pictures are from that places. However, I also made on of the swamp tours, which I really enjoyed, as we do not have any swamps with gators here in Czech Republic. I really regretted not having a better telezoom lens there:).
As for the city: the main reason for going there was to visit a conference, and I was travelling alone, so I was not on any wild parties in the city;) (which I guess is the main reason peaple are going there?). However I really enjoyed it, I like the old houses in the FQ and also the atmosphere full of jazz and performers in the streets. And also the tall houses in the CBD were interesing for me, we do not have so many of them in Prague. I also had the opportunity to take a cruise on the steamboat Natchez, which was also very nice with interesting vies of the city at night. Btw you might be able to tell me, what I got in this picture, it was taken from the Natchez after approx. 30-45 minutes of sailing donwstream.
I guess it is a port or factory of some kind.

Thank you all the other people of New Orleans for making it such a nice and welcoming city. I hope, I will return someday with my friends and find out soumething about the parties there;).

That factory is probably an oil refinery.
