I recently was doing some work at The Cloisters in Ft Tryon Park in Washington Heights. I figured I'll slip away and try out the D800 in some low light situations. No flash is allowed so I used ISO 2000 - 5200. I took these in JPEG with just normal noise reduction. I did no post production other than resizing for the web ( I know some need straightening and other tweaks but I wanted to post un-processed.) I was pretty impressed how well the D800 handled the low light. I think a PC lens would have worked well here, too. Maybe next Christmas. Comments welcomed.

Did you mean to post these in 'Just for fun' or would you like them moved?

Excellent low-light performance (what else would you expect from Nikon? ) My only comment is that I wish you'd used a larger aperture where possible to better isolate the subject, but a very interesting series regardless!

I wasn't sure whether to post here or in general gallery since I was highlighting the low light performance and didn't correct the obvious, correctable flaws in PP. I was using my Nikon 24-70 2.8 and most of these were shot at F3.5 so I couldn't go much larger. Looking at the actual focal length for the shots, my 50 1.8 might have been better. Actually, I'ld like to go back after I get a PC lens and have more time to set up the shots. It's an interesting place that not too many people know about.
