I feel like I am being sucked into the image with a vacuum cleaner only not in a good way. My biggest nitpik other than feeling like I need to cling on to something to avoid being one of Hawking's statistics is the clarity on the tree trunk as it sits in a blurry field of water. It just doesn't feel like it belongs there. If the trunk were attached to a point on shore which would release it from being attached to the water, I would have no issue.
To clarify my vaccum cleaner response, my eye is instantly pulled to the top third center of the frame (the bright spot), but it just stops there. I have no relief at that point. My eye doesn't want to move on to look at the rest of the scene and for me, I have to have a logical way into the frame and several escapes out, all of which immediately lead me back to the bright spot. it's that never-ending circle of eye movement or it just doesn't work for me...and, point to be made, if I have to search for an escape route, I'm already on to the next shot.
Somebody on the other side of the world check and see if this New year is the "Year of the Grinch." Either that, or I am still a bit feverish.
