The Coffee House

This was a great investment. Trying to put diesel into the tractor's fuel tank which is located on top is very awkward. So I bought this battery operated pump for my diesel jug and it works perfect. I just sent it on the front tire and the hose is long enough. It has sensor to stop automatically. Well worth the $80! Didn't drop any diesel or get it on my hands.

I use a large funnel and only put about 4 gallon in the 5 gallon can., making it easier to lift and pour. However, this last time I overfilled the can.......spilled that stinking $#%^& all over me. Where did you get the pump $80 is a small price to pay.

Amazon! I have a smaller one for my regular gas can for the lawn mower that I use. Huge fan of these Tera pumps. I never had one fail except for the very first one when they company was in its infancy. They now use metal components.

I use a Pela 6.5l extractor pump for topside oil changes on my Mk 7 VW Golf. Top mounted oil filter makes it easy. Vacuum tube down the dipstick tube. Pumps out in 5+ minutes. Maybe 100ml left in the pan. Beats the hell out of crawling under the car.

The only problem with this, is over time heavy particles/metal, can build up on the bottom of the pan. I will admit that it's getting harder to get under a vehicle to do it, which is why letting the dealer service the car is looking better all the time. The cost to service the F350 makes the DIY option worth the effort.

Contaminants are held in suspension in drained warm oil. Anything heavier will not be carried out when the drain plug gets pulled. It will just sit harmlessly on the bottom of the pan. Gravity's our friend!

I was looking up grapples for my tractor...holy. They expensive. I am comfortable installing the 3rd function valve myself, looks super easy and not terribly expensive.

Something like this is calling my name. I want one! I have many large rocks I want to move...man would this save the back.

@nerwin Bolt on debris forks run less than $500 but I'd be a little hesitant of putting much weight ahead of the front edge of the bucket. They also make bolt on Grapples for your bucket (better option). They run in the neighborhood of $1500. The problem is the lift capacity of the loader. Compact tractors aren't rated very high to begin with, add the weight of a grapple and you might be biting off more than you can chew.😉

I estimate with that grapple, it's about 400lbs-ish. I should be able to lift about 1000lbs about 4-5 feet off the ground. It should be ok. I have a set of SSQA pallet forks but moving brush with that I'm not too impressed yet. Beats handling it by hand though.

According to Kubota the max weight with your loader is 1,131lbs, which includes the bucket. You'd have to figure the difference in weight with the grapple. My experience has been trees and rocks always weigh more than I'm guessing 😅

yes but that's at the pins and at full height which is over 9 feet. I wouldn't even want to think of lifting something that heavy and that high up, scary! I've seen it demonstrated to lift about 1700lbs like 4-5 feet. So many factors come into play. There would be plenty head way to play with for what I'd be doing mainly moving brush and cutting up logs. I'm not talking about moving full size trees or boulders. The rocks I have to move are around 150-400 pounds.

Guess nothing's OT here! Anyone have any experience with the Nextdoor neighborhood app?
Want to instigate a little post-pandemic community building. Tend to work on the view post-trauma that there's no "them," just "us" now.

I tried that app once, it was pretty empty in the area I am in. A few older folks on there sharing pictures of flowers once in a great while...other than that it was ghost town. Really nobody was active enough.

I used NextDoor when I first moved to this neighborhood, but the moment you even think about looking for a service like tree cutting or plumbing or what have you, you get overloaded with unsolicited offers. I dropped that app and instead am now on a moderated, locked community FB group, a much better user experience.

Thanks, Jeff. Contra your welcome advice, I may try it this spring.
