The Coffee House

e was all flushed describing the big spider.

Spiders, snakes, scorpions, and other assorted creepy crawly things don't bother me as long as I know they're there, but you have to understand how the male mind works. Until we actually "see the threat" we can't process an appropriate response. Thats why when I get a face full of spider web the brain automatically goes to DEFCON 1!

Most of the multi-legged things don’t bother me. Two exceptions are roaches and silverfish. when I see either one, I turn into a Norse Berserker. When we first moved into the house we’re in now, there were silverfish all over the basement. Dad asked me about all the divots in the old ceiling tiles. I explained that I made nighttime raids on the silverfish. The nicks in the ceiling were from the hockey stick that I used to smack them to the floor. Penalty box for that one.

I give things without legs a very wide berth.

Work laptop motherboard replaced; waiting on the Service Desk to swap my hard drive back in from the loaner.

The only snake that scares me is the one I'm 2 feet away from stepping on when I suddenly see it. Other than that, I leave them alone.

Other things, as long as I see them first, no problem, but I do hate me a face full of spider web while walking in the woods. Which happens a lot since I'm in the woods a lot is seems.

Love the black! Did you stain the mantel darker?
Thanks. I’m really happy with it! Yes the mantle was a whitewash before so I sanded it back to natural and then stained it with a gold pecan but it picked up too much red for me against the black. Going to try to temper that with a greenish brown and if that doesn’t do it I’ll be sanding it again!!

I’m thinking of extending the black with some moulding for a paneled look.

Not my photo. From Pinterest for demonstration purposes only.

Ugh! Started feeling off yesterday afternoon, and by the time I went to bed I was having the chills like I haven't had in a long time. Spent the entire night in and out of sleep, alternating between blankets and no blankets. Called in sick this morning. The pups were happy, because they got to lie on the bed all morning long making sure I was ok. Finally got up around 1130. My DSU swears she didn't bring anything home from the clinic, but I'm not so sure about that...

@SquarePeg - I think that looks kinda cool! I like black - it's dramatic while still basically being a neutral.

@jeffashman - that sucks! :( Feeling better, then? Could it be a mild round of Covid? (Can't help but go there as a suspect!)

Eww why are you talking about bugs??! lol

Hope you feel better Jeff.

Tomorrow I have regular boring medical stuff... still getting in home services so getting flu and shingles shots, then the nurse practitioner is coming out. At least it will all be done in a day.

@jeffashman hope it passes quickly!

@vintagesnaps we're due to get our flu shot in 2 weeks. The season starts later for us in the south, so we hold off as long as possible in the hope they'll get it right before we take it.

We got our flu shots a few weeks ago. Had the covid vax scheduled last Monday and was canceled due to supply. Got it rescheduled for this Monday. The 2nd shingles shot was terrible. My husband just had a few aches.

The Grand's cross country is finished for the year and now basketball starts. Taking photos of cross country is nice because it is outside and you can move around. We will see how my basketball photo skills work next week. A father on the teams takes wonderful photos. He took a bunch from the first away game and has a giant watermark across the middle. He didn't do this last year. I asked my daughter about the watermark and he started doing that because parents from the different sports would download/share his photos and not give him credit.

Another odd photo story. I saw a post on the local FB community group. A woman is offering free senior portraits to those in need. She says she has a nice camera and can edit fairly well. She thinks she can do a good job. The photo collage that she shared with her post are not her photos! She does say that in her post if you scroll down. Odd that you would put up someone else's photos.
