What's new

The Coffee House

Ok time to go wish you all a good day, just had last call “are you ready?” To go out.
maybe the band that did “tell me why I don’t like Mondays can do a remake
”tell me why I don’t like shopping.”

Well Hosers, I threw out my back Sunday morning so my fun weekend was cut short. It was so bad I had to use my hiking poles to get in/out of my chair yesterday. Tiny bit better today. Pain patches and lots of Advil for me. It’s not the first but definitely the worst it’s ever been.

I deserve an award just for getting out of bed this more. I’ll take a golden globe or an Oscar, I’m not picky.
That sounds awful. :( You get whatever you want right now! Hope you improve quicker than expected: that's the best gift you can get from the Pain Demons.

Remember this old painting of mine? Bastard.

Yesterday was warmish. I got the front beds cleaned and helped my husband with half of the long grasses. The wind picked up so we stopped. The taller grasses are getting cut today and wind not as bad. On a windy day they would be all over the yard.

I cleaned the hardwood floors, dusted and a few other small projects. I told my husband last night that in boomer hours we put in a full 8 hours of yard work. It was actually 3 hours.

Warmer here, spring work full steam ahead. Spending a few days at the Lake. Yesterday picked up all the downed limbs and burned the trash collected, mowed the yard. Today finished up the dismantling of an old deck, cleaning our new deck, outside furniture and grill. Tomorrow hope to relax and do a little fishing.

Warmer here today, too. Tomorrow is going to be nearly 70F, with sunshine. After that the temps start to fall back into the more typical March weather: highs in the 50s and lows into the 30s. Spring is such a tease in the North!

Best wishes. . . . I wish I had a good pain remedy for you, but all I have is the usual stuff. In moderation, strong drink works as well as anything else, so you might as well have your favorite. Personally, I prefer Scotch. I suppose in Canada I should prefer a Rye Whiskey, but no, I actually do prefer the Scottish stuff. Oh well. . . .

Pollen season is in full swing and literally knocking the snot out of me. Had to call in sick today, because the past two days did me in. Hoping a day of rest will improve the situation. Made a bowl of chicken noodle soup infused with piri piri (a very hot pepper seasoning) and Ceylon cinnamon for lunch today. Focusing on rest and hydration. Almost forgot the tea, a good black tea sweetened with pepper (scotch bonnet and habanero) infused honey and lemon does wonders for the throat and bronchial tube.

Sounds miserable. I'm sorry - hope you get better quickly! ❤️

@smoke665 : there are many things I loved and do miss about living in the South.

The pollen ain't one of them. It's hard to describe to people who haven't seen it or tried to breathe through it. Pollen is everywhere, of course - but it's different down there!

How could you not miss the pretty yellow rivers of pollen after a rain. LOL

I hate allergies. Hope you're feeling better soon.

The pollen has not made much of an appearance here yet. Next month for sure. Dreading it. Meanwhile, my back is slightly better each day. Today I managed the stairs without too much discomfort and got about a half hour of fresh air in the yard. Still can’t out on my own socks…

Thanks everyone! Doing better after a day of rest. I knew it was only a matter of time when I went out to the car the other day and the windshield was covered in a fine coat of yellow powder. We're expecting rain, and just had the first tornado warning of the year moments ago. Another wonderful charm of the South.
