What's new

The Coffee House

So much for the 70 degree sunny day they predicted, more like clouds, mist and 60. At least I managed to get most of the cleanup work done on our 2nd RV lot at the Lake. If all goes according to plan will be ready to rent out for the summer.

Rain for the next two days, but sunny and comfortable over the weekend. Workikng on putting edging around the front beds to help keep the leaf mulch from drifting back onto the lawn. Not that there is much of a lawn, the past two deep freeze winters and the scorching summers pretty much killed all the St. Augustine. Just bare dirt right now. At some point, I have to figure out how to remove the back door so that I can put a new sweep on it. The hinge bolts were painted in by the previous owner, and I can't get them to budge.

We hung 7 new bamboo window shades in the sun-room. Very odd that the brackets for each were different by an inch or so. We had to measure each one before drilling the holes in the wall. To make it easier than holding the actual shade against the wall, I made a template the size of the shade out of a piece of foam board and then marked each one as we went along.

Next up when it gets a little warmer is cleaning out the front beds and cutting the tall grasses in the back yard.

@CherylL unfortunately parts of our yard is already looking like a jungle. I've been putting off servicing the mower and getting it ready, but I'm afraid that time has come.

In other news, the Deer that have been absent for the past year or so must be having a reunion at our house. Sunday evening when we came in after dark, we had to stop half way up the drive to let a heard of a half dozen or so cross in front of us. Apparently they weren't concerned as they calmly took their time in crossing. This morning DW called from the kitchen, there were three Does in our backyard exploring, glad to see them back. We have floor to ceiling cathedral windows in the end of the house, in years past they would come up and peek over the edge of the deck at us, drove the dogs nuts, but made for some interesting "peeping toms". At any one time we might have had a dozen or more bedded down in the front yard. They achieved "protected status" when the mamas would bring the newborns up to show them off.....DW said no hunting after that.

That's wonderful! Must be a welcome sight.

Warmish kind of late winter/early spring has a lot of critters stirring and on the move. We had a little doe in our back yard yesterday, getting a drink from the birdbath! We live a block up from a golf course with a tall fence, and around us it's block after block of homes with small yards - no real wood thickets in this neighborhood. It's a mystery how she wandered over - and we had one last year, too. They nibble and amble around till something spooks them and they're off.

The Canada geese are getting louder, too. :586:

Hi all. Talking of weather, we have just had two, yes two dry days. spent time in the garden getting the winter rubbish cleared away. We don’t have trees but seem to to get ALL the leaves from next door lol.

TGIF! Cool and sunny here today. I think it’s supposed to rain this weekend but they can’t seem to decide. I am in the middle of a very noisy tinnitus flare up so will be doing my best to destress and not go crazy. It’s so annoying.

Plans for the weekend? I’m heading out to dinner with some friends tonight. Lots of little plans for Saturday which will be a success if I get through half of them and then Sunday is all for me. Maybe an art museum, definitely some cooking and possibly a stop at the nursery to check out the early spring offerings in the greenhouse. I actually do need a few more houseplants since I am finally finished plant sitting for my friend. Now the house seems bare in those empty spots. Princess says I have enough but I disagree…

Tinnitus has become my bestie and goes with me everywhere I go... You can never have too many houseplants, ever...

Usually it’s in the background and I can just ignore it but it’s been off the hook all week. I used Flonase and that helps a little if the flare up is sinus related. But then I had 2 drinks with dinner so it’s back.. Worth it!

Ugh, it just sounds so annoying! I hope it starts to fade again very soon.

Supposed to rain on and off here all weekend. Bah! Staying in, and likely playing more with image transfers. And laundry. 🥱

Sorry, Sharon.

It's supposed to rain all day. I have an optometry appointment, then since working on the art space and the office, in the basement. MLW is pulling the "back 12" tonight at the Watch Office (7:00 PM tonight to 7:AM tomorrow). With it being time change, she works 11 and gets paid for 12 (all overtime). MLSIL is staying home again. She's trying to quit smoking and is afraid of being too cranky to be around people.

Steady rain yesterday most of the day and evening. Today is mostly cloudy/overcast. Ended up with some nice lumber from deck dismantling, going to build a picnic table today from some of it.
