The Coffee House

My kayak course is this afternoon.
I am not a wine connoisseur. I couldn't resist this.

What a beautoful day to be on the water. I finished my Kayak Fundamentals course a while ago, paddling on the Casco Bay, so salt water and some tidal action. Absolutely loved it, glad I took it, and can't wait to get everything ready for the home 'yaks. Kingfisher, Great Blue Heron, and Bald Eagle flying around. No cqmera except the phone, and that spend most odf the time in a zip-lock bag, in the vest.

Have you fell out on purpose to see if you can get back in it?

If i ever fall out im swimming it back to the bank, not a chance of me pulling myself back in it🤣.

Not this trip. Once I have a few more items I will practice some self-rescues.

Anyone here do deep fried eggs?

Can't say that I have ever had one, no. Maybe in the South or Midwest? I mean, they deep fried a stick of butter over in Texas, so maybe they've tried eggs.

If I ever fall out of mine, it will probably sink to the bottom. I keep my gear in a floating bag so that if I do get swamped, at least I can drag my kit back to the shore.

Growing up just about everything was fried.....in lard! So when the doctors told me my diet didn't include fried food it was hard for awhile. Now I don't really miss it. We bake, grill or stick in the air fryer.

Then there was the quad-bypass special from the inimitable Paula Deen: Deep-fried Butter Balls!

Who has an in-house cardiac surgeon to install stents after a plate of these???

I use a double to eat things like that for me... my stent double...

Good morning all, winters definitely over & jeez it was a warm winter. The spring winds have arrived, about to walk up the road and check on Mrs Magpies nest.

So you had a good refresher day on the water?

Nah. We've been getting away from deep fried anything for health reasons. Deep fried egg is something I would expect to see at the State Fair though, they deep fry everything.
About twice a month for me i spoil myself with a lard fry up, but the lards only been a recent thing. Gonna go back to vegetable oil once this batch of lard needs tossed out jeff👍.

For the most part im a healthy eater, love a huge plate of vegetables and salads. Once in a blue moon I'll get a takeaway or a block of chocolate but really it's hardly ever that i do.

Mrs Magpies hunkered down in her nest, i get anxious with her and the spring winds. Hoping dads been bringing food to her when she can't come down, he usually does.

She knew it was me, but she didn't want to come down for a feed of Wombaroo it's to windy. Clever girl☝.

I tried doing deep fried cheese once for an experiment, what a mess it made🤣.

A question about mirrorless.

Is there a time/view lag of a subject while looking through the view finder or screen on a mirrorless camera? How long exactly?

Yeah, there's a trick to it. I think it's a double coating of egg and breadcrumbs, and then throw them in the freezer before cooking. And the oil needs to be hot enough to cook the coating without leaving it long enough to get the cheese too melted. I imagine the choice of cheese is important. In this area, fried mozzarella sticks were very popular for a while. Oh yeah, and the jalapeño poppers: cheese stuffed into a pepper, breaded and deep fried. Those were both horrifying but also annoyingly good.
