The Coffee House

That looks like mushroom stuff..not for me haha. I'm a little weary about sleep supplements...some say it works, some don't. Maybe it depends on the person. I struggle sleeping during winter for some reason, it may be during the warmer months im way more active.
Yes, made with mushrooms, but not the psychoactive kind. I'm an insomniac, so I'll try anything that is legal and won't leave me with a hangover the next morning.

I haven't touched alcohol in probably 3 years. I don't drink anymore. Never liked the taste or how it made me feel and it's expensive lol.
I'm in the process of quitting. I'm down to only allowing myself to drink one day a week, and probably from there will just quit. It doesn't bring me the enjoyment it once did, and yeah, it's expensive if you are going to drink quality anything.

I just drink coffee, too much coffee. I guess it could be worse. Could be alcohol and drugs so if coffee gets my "fix" I'm good with that. Gotta have something you enjoy that makes you feel good. I was never a heavy drinker, I just can't stand the taste of alcohol. Beer is disgusting to me. I don't understand why people like it. I've tried many different kinds and just about spit it out. The only thing I can remotely stand is some kind of spiked seltzer..like truly. But then I get called a girl lol. Sorry just don't like the stuff but it's frustrating...even as an adult you feel peer pressure to socially drink. I been to bars with folks and I'm like ummm yeah I'll just have water or a coffee hahahaha and get weird looks. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I don't think anybody should be pressured into drinking. Although with the state of the world is in, I certainly don't blame them and understand.

Stop drinking only water, but have a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent illnesses” (1 Tim 5:23) 😉

.Coffee, tea and water though I do cook with beer and wine.

I drink mostly water and have a cup of tea or a Diet Coke when I need some caffeine since I do not like coffee. I love a good cosmo or fancy martini and will usually order one if we go out for dinner. At home I’ll have a Baileys on ice in lieu of dessert if I’m wanting something sweet. But I’ve been dieting so lately I’m avoiding the sweet stuff and settling for a vodka soda with a splash of cran.

I'll have a glass of wine on Friday evenings, and maybe Saturday, but no longer on nights before work. I used to drink a bottle to a bottle and half of wine by myself in one sitting, which is just way too much. Now I reserve it for special occasions. Spirits are also now a rarity. I've found some of the NA beers and ales are fairly decent, but NA wine is just grape juice and does not pass muster. I've also gone a long way to eliminate sugar from my diet, but again, not 100%. All of this has had a positive impact, so I think I'll stick with it.

With respect, whatever works for you. I tire of the fad-like advice on all aspects of life. Too often these regimens just herd us to the check-out("ka-ching"). Think Paltrow+Goop. 'Nuff said...

I guess I've been lucky, in that I have always managed to self-regulate and not have to think about it. Ever since I retired, I appreciated that I could have a glass of wine with dinner every night if I wanted. But I never wanted to. Frankly, my palate gets tired and the wine no longer seems like an enhancement to a meal, or even worth sipping on. A few days in a row of drinking drags my energy level down.

Oddly, the hubby and I stick to a weekend-only wine allowance. No particular reason, other than we tend to cook more involved dinners that pair nicely with red wine 🍷. Always my favorite!

We have some tequila around, but rarely use it. If I were going to keep any other spirit around it'd be a light rum, for an occasional daiquiri or Mai Tai style drink, something fruity. I've always been a lightweight, and that's ok!

If you're having trouble sleeping, make sure that last cuppa is in the afternoon. Caffeine can take hours to get out of your system!

But then I get called a girl lol.

You say that like it's a bad thing. :tongue-44:

Some of the most fab people I know are girls. ;) Just tell them that when they jab you with sexist nonsense like that.

Seriously, I got laughed at a lot too for my dislike of most beers, especially considering that I had a lot of musician friends that played out in bars. When I ordered a house wine there was a lot of  ! But really, who gives a crap? It's all good.

Eww. A few days ago we woke up to 9F and it took awhile to pull out of that. Yesterday was a gorgeous winter day - full sun, cloudless hard blue sky. Still only 20F but the birds and critters loved being out in the sun.

Our snowfall is coming early this afternoon. 2-4" expected, not too bad. High: 27F Low: 23F.

I prefer the temps staying in the 20sF while it snows - dryer snow is fluffy and easy to get rid of with the snowblower. In the 30's, it's typically got more moisture in it, it's heavy and nasty and the type that turns into slush. Icky.

When I lived in Denver I saw "champagne powder" snow once when it was in single digits. It was as light as a bunch of dandelion tops. You could blow off 6" of snow from the roof of your car easily.

"champagne powder" snow
It's the best kind, right? :)

In other news: I saw a fox today, hosers! :fox:

I was at my back door giving Little Red her walnuts and when I stood up, I saw a bushy red tail disappearing around my garage. Which meant this guy had to come up my driveway, since there's a fence between our back yards on that side.

I waited to see him come around and he did - gorgeous big fox. He sauntered across my yard and went to the other neighbor's back yard, and disappeared.

I turned to my squirrel friend to say: Did you see that? But she was nowhere in sight.

I did call the Safety Dept of our small city and gave them my cross streets, but he seemed unimpressed.
