What's new

The Coffee House

Or they have a moonshine still nearby and don't want you to come upon it. That's always been my concern. 😉

Haha I don't think so, just a young couple. But she couldn't even leave due to amount of snow in their driveway! I used to plow their driveway for free but she told me it bothered him, like offended. I'm like I'm just trying to help and be neighborly...at the time they were new to the neighborhood. They had no way to plow their driveway. They never had to before since this is their first house.

I'm like whatever I guess. Not my problem really.

Yeah - some guys are like that. Save your fuel and time for something else.

Well, this is ironic. I have been recording time lapses whenever I think the sky might look cool, and I thought I might have something from Feb . 17 - when the passenger jet got blown over, but now that have checked, it doesn't look like I recorded the weather that day. A pity, it might have been interesting. [Corrected date @18:34]

Well, that was really rude! Got an email yesterday afternoon, layoffs are coming tomorrow, check your email in the morning. Not a single wink of sleep. Going through all sorts of scenarios on how to mitigate retiring early with much less than planned. Checked the email this morning, and all it had was a link for a meeting later in the morning. Glad to say, I still have a job, but not happy with how they went about it.

Good morning Folks! Actually slept last night.
@cgw, your parcel arrived yesterday. As instructed, I took it outside to open. Thanks…

I'm glad you still have a job, too, but that was a tone-deaf way to announce layoffs, to say the least. There are management types who think it's smart business to keep people thinking the sand is shifting under their feet. As a former management type, I find these kinds of scare tactics damaging for all.

Good luck going forward, and sorry you had to go through that. :(

Eww! That's pretty cold for Texas this time of year.

We has a low of 2°F last night, and from here on out should be climbing out of the extreme cold. We'll be in the 40sF next week.

Thanks! Unfortunately, we have an activist investor who is making life difficult. I'll say no more. The rest of us will continue to do what we need to do to keep things running smoothly.

Was worried it got mis-delivered to Oslo where it wouldn't be appreciated. Invoice in the mail.
The separate package that contained the snow got delivered to the wrong place by USPS and ended up in the Northeast where someone opened it without looking at the address...

If it's any comfort, my area hasn't suffered so much snow since 2002. We're buried. Laid in extra gas and shear pins for the blower here and at the family ruin. Same went for food and drink but so far no power outages. We're totally kitted out for it but it's getting old. Relief comes with seed shipments, flower catalogs, micro-green grow-op and cardinals singing spring serenades to the ladies. They get widening day length even if we don't.

I had to move up north for a couple of years. Fortunately, I had taken up astrophotography shorter before moving. That turned out to be a blessing. I would setup my telescope/camera on the balcony and run the control cables inside operating remotely. I would scan the skies taking pictures each night. The early long winter nights were an asset. That said, northern winters are tough.

I’m off to Maine in the morning, for a few days, then back to Maryland. I miss this girl.

MLW’s leave expires next week but she’ll continue to stay with MLSIL at night. MLSIL had the second/last drain removed yesterday. :joyous:

I’ll continue to shuttle back and forth until after the surgery to remove the colostomy bag. I’ll take care of housework during the day and any issues that come up, while MLW takes the evenings. Family first.
