What's new

The Coffee House

I was feeling tropical vibes tonight at dinner.

Got the tool belt out and made some shelves for the laundry closet yesterday. Yikes lumber is pricey right now! Painted it all nice and bright white. Got the new shelf on the bottom hung up today. Wish I’d taken a before photo! It was a mess. Not perfect but so much better than before.

Hosers! Looks like we're in the path of this nasty spring storm that's so large, it stretches from up here in Michigan all the way south to Texas, where high winds are reported to have knocked over semi-trailer trucks off the highway. :icon_eek:

It's not forecast to be quite that windy up here, but the local meteorologists are doing their best to scare the crap out of us. Likely to lose power at some point tomorrow.

Yay, spring! It's been gorgeous all week. We reached 72°F today.

To our St. Louis members: @Ysarex and @webestang64 , and @CherylL in Illinois: stay safe! ❤️

First round of storms has passed, most of it going north of us. The 2nd and worst of the day will be here later this evening. We've gone from a #3-enhanced risk, to #4-moderate risk, to being on the very edge of the #5-high risk area. Going to be a rough night for us in the south.

We had some incredible winds and a dust storm. Further west, trucks were being flipped on the Interstate. It was completely insane. This morning, my car was covered in red dust. I've never seen March come in like a lion like this in all my years here.

Sounds like a dust bowl! This is one nasty storm.

Thanks teeri! Made it through OK. At one point I did think my front windows would be crashing in as they were getting hit with up to golf ball size hail. Brand new outside AC unit seems fine. I saw no dents/damage. My co-worker in the lab says she has damage to her roof and siding. Oy.......!

Thanks for checking in. Glad you made it through all right! Hail is always a threat for major damage. Glad the worst is behind you!

Glad nobody hurt in the storms; stay safe for those in the path. At MD house boxing up what I Witt take up to ME, like the bear collection and art supplies. Decided I’ll let the pros deal with the heavy tool chests while I take the cordless stuff. The kids gave me a framed antique map of ME for Christmas a few years ago so I’ll take that and let movers take the rest of the photos.

Pick up the truck tomorrow morning, load some bins at MLSIL’s, hit The Barn Show for a dresser and a couple cabinets we bought, the storage units to clear them out, then our house to load what I want to take up. Finish loading Monday, have a Guinness 🇮🇪, then head up on Tuesday.

What the heck.....this looks exactly like my grandmothers. Cold chills.

I went boot shopping today. I really didn't think I'd spend several hours in the store. But what a coincidence...I went there today and it was their grand opening. They had a live band, free stuff and was a fun experience. Soon as you walked in, all you could smell is leather and nothing else haha.

I been looking for some decent work boots for my landscaping work and driveway resurfacing jobs. I had someone help me try to find a good pair but he kept recommending me cowboy work boots with wide toe box with composite toe, they were really nice but were $400! I didn't want to try them on because I was afraid I would like them.

I tried on many...many...many boots and settled on these being the most comfortable.

These are Danner boots, never owned any by them but I hear they make great boots. These are waterproof, non slip and has alloy toe. Fairly lightweight but not as light as others. I wanted boots that were breathable but finding boots that are waterproof and breathable is rather hard. Can't have it all. But for $169, I thought I got a good pair of boots that will be great for working with the tractor. They are real leather too.
