What's new

The Coffee House

LL's friend came yesterday, so the truck is unloaded. Lazy Lobster and I carried the console table upstairs yestrday, so we will get the rocker upstairs today. We'll also get a number of the boxes and tubs to the basement so they are out of the way, and the rest in a larger "L" shaped closet.

I have to get our new-to-us dresser in place and figure out where to put the other stuff. We are storing some furniture for son #1 (Okie). They are cherry Queen Anne reproductions my father made from kits. The style doesn't quite fit in with what we are using, so Okie will take them. He is also interested in the old china cabinet and dining room table from mom & dad's place. When he and his wife come to visit in May, they can verify they want thie furniture and we'll take it out to them.

I stopped at the post office on the way in to get the mail. I had flags there: the first Maine state flag (3'x5'), Ireland, and Italy (both 2'x3'). Now for a flagpole and mount (one on the way from MD).

Fun With Flags! ;)

In other major news: Happy First Day of Spring, hosers! :icon_flower: The astronomical Spring equinox started today at 5:01am EDT in the Northern hemisphere. It's science!

Plant some seeds, have a bonfire, dance around the Maypole...oh, wait. That's for May Day. Never mind. :1247:

It's drizzling and cold outside right now, with some spits of snow for good measure. But at least it's now a cold Spring rain.

Finally some nice weather here! Been in the mid 60s the last few days so I took advantage of it and got a head start on some spring clean up. Hopefully we don't get dumped on with snow and have to do it again.

Made another video for fun.

I been pretty busy this week working on projects but pretty much all done for now until it gets warmer again. But it's nice seeing the snow melt...making me wanting to load some film in the ol' camera.

Hosers! Hope all are well. Weather has been decent here, got a few of the trellises cleaned up and pruned the roses. This weekend I’m going to get out there and bunny proof some of the perennials that are breaking through the mulch.

Continuing my run of house projects - hung my new plant baskets/shelves in the kitchen window and installed a couple of ceiling hooks. Tomorrow will change the curtains out for just a lower cafe style. Going to change the dark blue paint to a lighter blue green as s-on as I find the right color.

Once again we had winter come knocking, with temps overnight dropping to 27F. Dont know if it's the up/down weather or something else working on me, but I've been in a "funk" for the past few weeks, just can't get motivated to do anything but the absolutely necessary.

Blame the weather - it's easy, plus March is a maddening month. Not really time to get outside and start anything long-term and, aside from a few lovely days here and there, it can turn cold and wintry on a dime. Not exactly motivating when you're stuck between seasons.

It dropped down to 27F here last night, too - I covered my little shoots of daylilies that are foolishly coming up early, as well as the cardinal flower. I expected the crocus and hyacinth, being cool weather bulbs, but not these other two for another few weeks, at least. Dropped leaves over them while snow was swirling in the wind. Icky first day of Spring, but it's okay.

@nerwin - You're getting excellent use of that Kubota! Looks great.

@SquarePeg - I love those window shelves! I might have to hunt a couple up myself. That's a beautiful and soothing area by your dining table.

Happy Friday, hosers!

It's raining again today. I found a couple shingles in the driveway and now can see they are from the house. LL also advising one of their skylights has a little leak. The contractor will be by sometime to look at it all. I'll get him to repair it for now, since the roof will be replaced in the near future.

I bought a ouple free-standing storage shelf unuts for the basement. We need more but I'll start with two, I have to remove the wooden track-mounted shelves first, and the junk that is on them. We are putting things into tubs, which will go on the shelves.

Fighting a bad cold/allergies. COVID test was negative so treating with some OTC remedies and rest.

Snap out of it! Seriously though it gets harder and harder to get motivated after a long winter of relaxing and hunkering down. Just give yourself some grace and start small.

Thanks! I can send you the link if you’re interested. They were reasonably priced and quality seems good.

Woke up to it being 27f this morning and snowed. Looks like around Monday we might get 6 inches of snow. I guess I did yard work for nothing 😕

No choice, have Lil'Bit for Spring Break. 5 nights camping in the mountains, I'll be ready to be a couch potato again.😉

The other thing here is the pollen has started flying. Constant nasal drainage, congestion and sinus pressure doesn't make you feel like doing much either. 🤧

Think you got problems? Jack Daniel's and Bacardi have vanished from Ontario liquor stores!

I prefer a moonlit glad deep in the woods, dancing with the fey folk and howling at the full moon...
