Apologies to the membership. I clicked something this a.m. and got a notification that I had received a trophy. I clicked that and got several other notifications. I'm a firm believer in showing my appreciation. I didn't know about these and have not thanked the individuals who sent them. I tried to find that info today, and so far have been unsuccessful. I am not technically gifted, add to that a terrible, ongoing bout with Lymes (it plays havoc with your mental acuity), and I may have committed various infractions, and faux pas here. I do apologize and commit to learning the site better. YOU TPF must share some of the blame. You show me dozens of new, fantastic photos each day and get me all distracted... shame on you!

No big deal. The system gives them out for lots of things - number of posts (fist; 100; 1,000), reactionas to tyou7r posts, etc. If you look at your profile you will see "Points" which is related.

Well yesterday was interesting, cell service and internet went down about 1pm and didn't come back until sometime during the night. Can't speak for everyone but I know TMobile and Verizon were affected. Don't realize how much you depend on them till you don't have them. Some kind of mechanical problem with network. Affecting customers nationwide but more so eastern and Midwest.

We had Comcast in MD and really liked it, but it wasn't an option here. They have a presence in Maine but not in this area. It's fine, I guess. MLSIL is paying for the cable and she hasn't complained.

I don't watch much but seem to gravitate to the mystery shows, PBS and some of the food-related programs. I'm in The Hole (AKA the basement office) right now and I just have it set to the Classic Rock music station.

So I cracked the screen on my cell phone last year and was working fine but last week the screen shot craps and flickers. I did not pay anything for the phone (T-Mobile had a deal) so I do not feel to bad paying $215 for an exact replacement plus they will give me a whopping $8 for the old phone.
I still miss good old land line phones but this world has forced everybody to cells. Crazy what peeps spend on these things, I saw prices for $500 to $4000!!!!!!! Insane.

My Fig tree is showing it's appreciation for the fertilizer. It's already produced close to 30lbs of figs, and not showing signs of slowing down anytime soon. Will need to start another batch of wine soon, as I'm running out of freezer room.

DW helped me out with some of the crop today, she canned a batch of Jalepeno Fig Jam. OMG that stuff is awesome, when you first take a bite you get the sweet Fig, then......the heat starts creeping up on the tongue to finish it off. A Ritz cracker, with cream cheese topped with Jalepeno Fig Jam, over top good!

Ever tried chamoy sauce? Just might be a supermarket item for you. A colleague smuggles a small stash of umeboshi back from Japan annually for fellow junkies. Though Mexican, chamoy traces back to these Chinese-Japanese salted fruit goodies. BTW, I'm addicted to fig balsamic vinegar<<gasp>>. So good.

Not knowingly thanks to the large "undocumented" population, there's a Mexican Restaurant and Mexican grocery store on about every corner. We occasionally go to one, but we aren't overly fond of it.
