The depth of field on the first one seems a bit odd because my eyes dont really go completely to the leafs and the hot chocolate or coffee seems a bit nasty...maybe try taking the pic before the cream falls apart or something (or that could be the shot you were going for)

The first photo does not really pop for me on the other hand, I love the 2nd shot. Its a bit unusual and brings a calm feeling. I think the colors go well together. But it seems slightly out of focus.
