Tripoli, Libya, 1953-4. The first commercial jet liner by BOAC, the Comet. My sister and me.....no laughing please.
You said you were going to dig through your archives, but who would have thought you'd go THAT FAR into the "vaults of your memory" ... you already were such a big guy in 1953/54??? Wow. Cool. I was not even thought of at the time ... . And you were in Tripolis?
My father was on engineer with the Corps of Engineers working on the Air Force Base there, Wheelus AFB. We lived there for two years '53-'55. There were 35 kids in the entire high school. It was quite romantic back then. Many British and Italians and of course Arabs. King Idris was the monarch and it was very peaceful.....until oil was discovered in the late 50's and 60's. Interestingly enough, many of us "kids" through the wizardry of the computer have been emailing each other and we're having a major reunion in Kerrville, TX next year. It's party time for the senior citizens........... Sorry for the rambling, but life is interesting.....isn't it????
