This perspective (despite central type of composition) would work if You manage to show the texture of a desert sand (similarly to appearing one in the bottom right corner but You should bring it to the foreground and build first plan on it). It would introduce the viewer into the scene and give wider perspective of the actual camp location.
In Your version I'd prefer cut the bottom of the picture and a little bit of right side. Than I'd think about this desert camp as a main topic of the photo and despite above quoted phrase it'd work for me very well!
