I am not crazy about the highlights on the egg ... and what's with the glass of milk ?\

Too bad you did not have a white slicer.

As far as the black slicer. I actually had a white slicer and went out and bought a black one...White egg : black slicer
White milk, clear glass against a white background. It's just a tone thing

I assumed that the milk was:

1) a reference to the milk bottle in the AA photo
2) another white tone to complement the egg, as well as "filling in" that second element more

It works both ways, for me.

Hmmm. Good point. I never gave Ansel's milk bottle a thought. I guess great minds think alike

I don't like any of it. The lighting is abysmal, the background is all "fluttery" and competes (badly) with the smoother foreground white. The milk would be a good anecdotal touch if the glass were clean, shiny and there was a decent sparkle at the rim. Last but not least as it is the star of the show, the main highlight on the egg is completely blown and why is the egg slicer not slicing?

Slice, Clean the Wires and reposition. I was a little harsh...sorry, I awoke on the wrong side of the bed this morning which is a real biotch because I have to crawl out the window to get the morning paper.

Well, I think it's pretty good. It's very unpretentious and ... humble. Folksy. If you slick it all up, you'll lose that quality, which I rather like about this image.

And don't slice the egg. Not slicing it gives the image some tension. It leaves the viewer wanting a little something, it creates a desire.

I kinda like the highlight on the egg. It's the shadow behind the slicer that I don't like much. Funny shape.
The rest of it blends well.
It looks like a single light source which is hard to do. Maybe a reflector?
But I don't think I could do better.
