There is quite a bit of wide open grassy area right around and when it rains, the Northern Jacanas are attracted to the puddles.
But they are really wary and very tough to approach on foot.
Yet, oddly enough, they are not afraid of the car and don't seem concerned when you drive past.

So I resorted to doing just that. I took my camera, jumped in the car, and drove up and down shooting out the window. There may have been some no-hands, steering with the knees action while I was shooting..

G'day mate

It's coming up on my screen as an overexposed image, but the bird is beaut!
Any chance of toning down the background?

Everything was wet and shiny from the very same rains that attracted them.
I do see what mean but I always spot-meter on the bird and let the background be damned. This is probably a worst-case-scenario.
