I looked at this yesterday, and came back to it again today. I really want to like this, because it's "my kind of thing", but I just can't get past the blown sky. I really like the abandonment theme of the barn weeds and swing set...I would definitely go back if possible

Agree with Rick; great scene, but the sky is hurting the image. A 3-4 image HDR might work a treat here.

I can give it a better shot when I get my DSLR after tax time. This was taken with a ~$100 P&S.

This is at my fiances grandparents farm.

i gave it a like. it was close. Real tempted to side with rick. in the end i decided the sky didnt detract enough from the image for me to stop liking it. And i like the other elements and concept a lot. so it is a decent image for me, that could have been a really good one. It isnt even that the sky is blown that kills this. The attention isnt in the sky anyway and a no detail sky might actually add to the frame. it is that it is so BRIGHT. if you could at least tone it down a little it would help.

Besides the sky, you want to watch your contrast. I brightened it a bit and tweaked the contrast. This could just be a matter of taste

Your sky wasn't blown at all. It only got blown through processing. Here I working on your last post. EDIT: Since I posted this, I do see I have a slight halo around the barn roof, but that could be corrected with more careful editing. I only worked on this for about 5 min. to show the sky was there

If you're editing the BW copy, using the channel mixer won't gain you anything as all three color channels will be equal.

If you're editing the color original, a gray sky won't be helped much with the channel mixer as...... well.......... it's gray and the three channels will be very close to each other.

To bring out the sky, you may need to do some layers and masking.

I played with this even more after my last post and there's a lot more detail hiding in that sky. If this is important to you, I'd start over with the original image.

I have to say I like this version better than the original. (no offense Kendall 9991!), the original seemed a little too dark for my liking and the sky tone sets it off balance a little
