Are there any better host sites just for sharing?
Deviantart has a feature for storing image files called sta.sh. I have uploaded full resolution images to my stash with zero compression. When I share my images here I use that as a host. Example: http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/308/1/5/mg_1045_by_danostergren-d6t0uvr.jpg

FWIW, when you upload to flickr it keeps a copy of the original upload as well as the resizes. This file is 11MB as well: https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5490/9701703930_620e6c0c48_o.jpg

Dan, thanks for the heads up, I actually already have a DA account. I'll check that out. That photo looks great.

Also, just to point out, you can have multiple flickr accounts. Have one for your portfolio work, another for friends and family, and a third for posting stuff here if you'd like.

^^^Winner, never thought of that. Seriously.

I remember at one point members here were complaining about compression and sharpening issues on flickr, so I was under the assumption that it wasn't the best way to keep the images intact. As well, I don't use flickr, but I use deviantart daily, so it just works for me. Are there other benefits to flickr I should know about?

not really, if deviantart works for you, then so be it!

I've been using flickr I think since like 2008, so I'm just extremely use to it and I've never had any issues with quality on there. That I've noticed at least.

I like how you can join groups and interact with other members, as you probably can on DA also.

But too each their own.

I also opened a 500px, but already deleted it. I just wasn't feeling it.
