Hey guys, yesterday I went down to County Wicklow, just below County Dublin where I live. It is a beautiful county with rolling hills and mountains as well as lakes and monastic ruins. So below are some shots including images of St Kevin's which is over 1000 years old. Enjoy. Comments or Criticism welcome. By the way, still getting used to RAW, its only my first week so be gentle with the criticism!

Great series. My favorites would have to be #2 #5 and #7. I love all the moss and greenery in #2 , # 3 I'm a sucker for stream shots, what can I say. As for #7 I like the shades of red and grey and the subject is pretty cool, but I would have LOVED to see more of the sky, the little bit I can see looks amazing!

The quality is terrific on these shots, great detail.

I can't even pick favorites, they're all so nice.

Thanks for the comments, I should have set up a gallery of sky shots, I have so many dramatic skies over Ireland.....

Thanks RKW, I see from your profile your new to the photography bug, keep it up, pretty soon it will bite you in the @ss and your hooked!:greenpbl:

Lol yup, I believe it already has. I've been in photography less than 1 year now and I love it. I've learned soo much, and a TON of it was from this website alone. (I never read any books/ taken any classes/ etc.)

Now I need my dad to get me a DSLR! Right now I'm still stuck with a Casio Exilim Pro EX-P505. It's not bad at all, I've been able to make some nice photos with it, but now I think it's time I move up. So my dad says he'll get me an SLR for my birthday, is a D80 to much to ask?? :greenpbl:

By the way, I'm viewing your website right now. Nice work!

Thanks, a little tip, hold out on the D80. The new Nikon D300 is out this month which means a lot of the D200 people will be upgrading, so there will be a lot of good secondhand D200s on the market. Secondhand D200 is much better then a D80!:hail:

Oh, great, sounds good. I've done a bit of research on both of these cameras and I've heard that the D200 has some features that the D80 doesn't have, and better picture quality. I want something lowish in price but can still help me pursue photography as a serious hobby/ career. :greenpbl:

So even if the D200 is a few hundred bucks more your saying that it's worth it? [hehe I feel sorry for my dad if he's really plannin on gettin me what I want]

Well the D200 is far superior to the D80. Many extra features, best being the body is magnesium alloy which means it can withstand more knocks and drops as it is a step up from hobby camera to semi-pro. Next camera up is Pro in the Nikon Range.... so yeah, its pretty good. I went through about 10 different cameras over the past 12 years and this is by far the best!

Okay, you've convinced me. I'm no longer accepting any other camera below the D200! (wow that would be tight, a 14 year old with a d200).

I think it's safe for my dad to get me a fancy camera anyways, I loove photography. haha. [i hope my birthday will come a little sooner!!]

Thanks Craig, had a look at your site, so with comments like that coming from someone with your skills, much appreciated!!!:hail:

I got new shots yesterday similar to this one, will be posting soon....
