My...my...these kids love to pose in front of a camera...not shy at all. Lucky you! My kids all looks like ... dogs! ... wait! they are doggies...

Nicely used DOF, showing the legs but just oof enough
My guess the B&W conversion was to try and 'save' the original that didn't look 'quite right'.
but the blanched areas on his forehead and upper cheeks from the overhead sun still show up and this isn't a good save.

Lovely smile, medium pose, terrible editing to blur or take out background; totally defeats the positive parts of the image.

Faith
this is a family memory picture, good to remember her antics
taken in direct sun, squinched eyes, blanched out detail, not much of an idea how pretty she probably is.

Don't think of B&W as a way to salvage bad exposures.
To start, take pictures in good light and convert to BW when the picture demands because of its strengths not its weaknesses

I liked the b&w - wasn't really trying to cover anything up actually. I agree w/ you on the poor editing of Reyann. I wish I could have salvaged the bg on that one, but it was awful. I tried... :/ See what you mean about the overexposure of the sun on their faces. Luckily I can fix that because my editing caused it! Ashamed of that! Thanks for pointing that out and for the cc!
