My neighbour has over the while accumulated upwards of 100 or so film cameras. Mentioned to me awhile back that he had a couple of Leicas somewhere. Sure enough, in a fitted hard case there was a 3f with four lenses, their corresponding viewfinders and a considerable assortment of Leica bits.

Tucked under the foam was...

Serial # says that the year of manufacture was 1936.

I have always thought that it would be special to shoot a roll or two with a Leica so Brian let me take this little piece of photographic history home for awhile. So after a careful superficial cleaning and a study up on this model's manual, off we went. Delta 100, D76 stock, on a contrasty sunny late September afternoon.

All pix taken with the camera as shown with the uncoated Elmar 5cm. f3.5.

I would like to shoot another roll or two, maybe with the 3f's wide angle and certainly a lens hood.
Then perhaps Brian would be so kind to let me take out the other resident of that case.

Nice pics, always great to shoot with a Leica, especially very early ones.. Kudos..
I’ve used Leicas since 1960 - 3F, M6, R6.2 and then onto Leica digitals. Fav lens a 1950’s Leitz 35mm Summaron… 🍻🍻
