The litterature thread...

1984 didn't work for me at all. Stopped reading it, didn't get to me at all.
I know, it's kinda dark and, erm... uneasy. I didn't like it first, too.
I guess it's why I prefered Brave New World, everybody's happy there, in their stupid way. You should try BNW... Personally, I find it's one of the finest utopias ever written, and it seems very natural... I mean I don't feel like questionning the action. Try it. But don't mind the begining... ;)

Try reading Orwell's 'Down and Out in Paris and London'.
If you like utopias then try 'Erehwon' by Samuel Butler. A brilliant satire on Victorian England and written in 1872 it was way ahead of it's time. What can you do with a Society that only eats cabbages that have died from natural causes?
Another excellent read - G K Chesterton's 'The Man Who Was Thursday'.

whoa, that's awesome, thx Hertz!

Keep going people! I feel like '06 is gonna be my top reading year!

*amazing resurrection*

well, i just finished 1984... In the beginning i found it intensely boring, but the third part is really amazing. Though now i have a lot on my mind and i'm deeply into questionning life, i'm glad i read it. And thanks to everybody who told me to read it
