With all the moon pictures this month, I thought I'd try to "shoot the moon" as well. I decided, however, to do it in a different way.
Instead of going out on a clear night and zooming in as far as I could go, I waited until one night, there were some interesting clouds around the moon. Then, I went out and found myself a spot where I could get some foreground elements in the frame; and waited for the right moment when the clouds were just perfect around the moon. I set the lens to manual focus, and adjusted it just so, and then took the picture. Let me know what you think.
XTi, ISO 400, 8 sec. exposure, f/5.60, 136 mm focal length.
