The Neep and The Runk

These Stacks and rock formations were pretty awesome to see and for once I was in the right place at the right time and had some lovley golden light shining on the rocks. I don't think I've quite managed to do it justice here or if I've quite got the processing right but I do like the composition.

Love the composition, but help out a poor redneck who's never been to Scotland. What on earth is a runk? Or a Neep for that matter?

I looked at this to see what a neep and a runk were! but glad to get to see a wonderful landscape. It does look somewhat dark to me too but I agree a lovely composition.

Thanks guys, I'll adjust my monitor tonight and re post as it does appear a little dark and the colours are a bit out of whack.

The Runk is the stack you can see on the LHS and the Neep is the ridge that leads to it, at least that's what it days on the OS map. Interestingly the word Neep is also an old Scots word for turnip (commonly used on burns night when you eat haggis, neeps and tatties) but I don't think that's what it means here! A lot of the Landscape on Shetland looked like this and some of the names they have are cracking as there is a big Norse influence in both Shetlands and Orkneys

Think I like the first one better. It's.. well, moodier. And if your going to get snookered and hang out at rock and talk poetry then your surroundings really should be moodier, don't you think?

Lol.. no worries. Ok - looked through them again on the big monitor, and it's really really close but I have to go with #3, the last one posted.

Thanks mate, I'm resonably happy with the last edit as it's more how I intended the photo to look. I think I've got my monitor settings pretty good now after a recent upgrade of my compter so this was the first edit I'd done since.
