The New Auto Button on LR or Camera JPG

Continue to be amazed at the new Auto button in LR, so decided to do a quick little test. The first image is a SOOC JPEG with the camera set to program mode and the bells and whistles on the menu set to on (like highlight correction and shadow corrections), no EV. ISO 400. It picked 1/200, f/5.6. WB set to auto

The second everything turned off image saved as Raw. On manual, same settings except I metered and closed to f/7.1 @ 1/250. Then imported to LR, hit Auto button, and applied a medium tone curve. WB set to auto.

The berries are actually a very bright red. Something that the SOOC maintained better than LR, but LR did a better job on the foliage.

I agree. I’ve started using the auto button as a starting point for many images because it’s improved so much.
