I saw few debates on the net about when is the best time to buy a new camera ?
I saw 4 aproaches to this question..........
1.When camera model is new in the market
2.Buy the camera few months to a year after model was released to market
3.Close to time when the camera will be replaced
4.To buy it now with no connection to when the camera came out
1.If you want the newest boy on the block you will pay for it.
Camera that just came out will cost in most cases full recomended price.
Also any potential teething problems are more probable to happened when the new camera just came out.
2.Buying it after few months to a year makes a lot of sense, the price probably went down a bit and potential teething problems were already addressed or in the work to be fixed.
3.Close to the end of the models life is an interesting approach, the price is probably as low as you can go, all teething problems are history and you still get a modern camera that will be good companion for years to come.
4.Buying new without caring about options 1-3 is a very simple way to look at things.
You simply accept there will never be the perfect time and you buy the camera when you have the money.
I think in most cases my instinct would be option 1, I love the newest boy on the block, that feeling of having the latest technology is important for me but...........I actually went for the combination of 3 and 4 on my latest DSLR.
I bought a Nikon D7000 about a month ago, I knew this camera is due to be replaced in few months but the asking price was Sooooo good also knowing myself that need for instant satisfaction was strong and last but not least the fact I am a novice and this cameras abilities are so much higher then my current knowlage in photography that for the near to medium future I will be very happy with the camera so I know I did the right thing.
Of course with my wifes camera which I just bought 2 weeks ago I went with option 1 (which is my natural approach) I bought the Canon G15 which is a new model
and a great little camera :heart:
