My name is Mike and I am from Binghamton NY. I picked up a camera about three years ago now and havent stopped taking photos. I am self taught doing research in books and forums like this one.

This is by far my favorite image from this year.

wow - now I like the look of that - is that HDR by chance or just a single exposure made to look HDRy?

It is a single exposure. Upped the contrast just a little and did a little unsharp mask and thats it.

hmm interesting - so did you use flash and/or a circular polarizer for the shot?
they are the only other 2 methods I can think for getting the sky like that and not having the shaded side of the cat much darker than it is shown here

it was painted on the wall behind the lion in their enclosure at the zoo....
