The Rapture is Coming!

From what I understand, May 21 was just the beginning of the end. It's supposed to wrap up October 21st.

If you use flash it will freeze the date.

It's MY Rapture and I NEED IT NOW!!

Pretty inspired piece of photography. A bit of analysis…

The upward-pointing open rectangle formed by the armchair arms and seat is reflected in the similarly shaped rectangle of the door, with the darker chair balanced diagonally against the bright door center. The narrative here is past to future (or present, if you believe in the rapture).

The slightly grimy-looking and tawdly corner is contrasted by the near-featureless brightness of the door, again echoing the theme of past life, present rapture.

The high-key upper right side really works well with the mid-key lower left as a visual balance.

The diagonal of the floorboard to the left of the chair again suggests movement, from left to right, from the chair to the door, reflecting the previous impression.

So there are a number of elements that reinforce each other and work to a common theme, much as individual instruments in an orchestra blend into the overall score.

Well seen, well captured.

I like it but think it would be better with a little less exposure and more color in the chair

The overblown light is what makes it. The Lord smites with lightening, nuclear holocaust or the Devil's eternal hellfire unleashed, whatever it is, **** has just went down outside and now the chair is empty.

I really like it. The clear focal point of the chair, the texture on the walls and the lines the baseboard molding provide a direction for my eye. The chair being tilted back implies a tension. I'm just wondering if the window wasn't completely blown out if it would add or subtract from the image. Just a thought.

Indeed it is....just not when that dipstick says so.

I like the shot. The blown highlights work because it looks as if the bright blinding light (often synonymous with god )is what took the person away ( note:hellfire and lightning wouldn't be the Rapture, it would be armageddon. They aren't the same )
Heres an interesting perspective on that whole rapture story..... When It Comes to Doomsdays, the Left Shouldn't Laugh at the Religious by Dennis Prager on Creators.com - A Syndicate Of Talent. Its not a pro-religion story, just shows an interesting neutral viewpoint.

A "neutral" viewpoint on religion from Creators Syndicate - The Best Content in The World, with such contributors as Bill O'Reilly, and Robert Novak.

While it may not be a "pro-religion" article, it is quite "anti-logic".

While it may not be a "pro-religion" article, it is quite "anti-logic".

It is neutral in the fact that it is pointing out that neither side is better than the other when it comes to incorrect doomsday scenarios. Not sure how you see it as anti-logic. Care to share? I see the article as being very logical in its assessment.

Logical in its assessment that climate change is not an issue, and that atmospheric CO2 levels are at over 300ppm? (which started to rise at the time of the industrial revolution)

It's logical to think that our planet is an infinite resource and can maintain all of the waste that's being forced upon it? From plastics in landfills to carbon emissions and general pollution? This guy is essentially anti environment for the first several paragraphs of this article, and then would rather face something based on "faith" (see: what helps people sleep at night), rather than reality. It's not like being environmentally conscious is difficult either, this guy just seems to be oblivious to the benefits of having a clean planet.

Lets pull some quotes into the mix:

“[T]his bill could prevent continued production of automobiles . . . [and] is a threat to the entire American economy and to every person in America.”
—Lee Iacocca, executive vice president of Ford Motor Company, in 1970, on why the government shouldn’t regulate airborne contaminants that are hazardous to human health

“Woman suffrage would give to the wives and daughters of the poor a new opportunity to gratify their envy and mistrust of the rich. Meantime these new voters would become either the purchased or cajoled victims of plausible political manipulators, or the intimidated and helpless voting vassals of imperious employers.”
—Former President Grover Cleveland, in 1905, on why women shouldn’t be able to vote

The "right" has it's own doomsday scenarios, as I just stated. There are also many more. This is an easy argument to make for the right or the left. Jeeze, what if Grover really had his way and women still didn't have any rights? What would our country be like today? What if there was never an effort to cut down on carbon emissions? Is it so far fetched to think we'd be worse off than we are now?

On top of that, the end of the world has been 'predicted' or 'prophesied' to end on several occasions by different denominations of the Christian faith. Never once has any of them actually been accurate, because it's pretty clear we're all still here. You can make this argument about any group of people I'd imagine. You could make the argument that the religious 'right' has been wrong about much more than the scientific 'left'.

The one thing that the scientific side does, is try to understand what's around us, and it's always changing. Religion is the same old bull**** every time you pick up the "holy book". No desire to understand, just a desire to have believe in something (anything).

Great shot, but wouldn't a better title be something like "post rapture shot taken by heathen"? ;)
