I got stung twice positioning this guy for the shots. I think I got a few good ones though. Let me know what you think.

#1 isnt bad (whats with the red light?).... but #2, there just isn't much there! The water drops actually detract from it.

Playing with gels- Just getting into flash so I'm experimenting. I guess it didn't work.

BUT EVERYTHING LOOKS COOLER WITH WATER DROPS! haha, I see what you mean now. Thanks for the honesty.

I, too, was confused as to the red in the first image. Without that it would be a super shot. You got stung? With your luck don't photograph any venomous snakes.;)

haha, That is mostly what I photograph actually. I was being careless with this guy because I do not mind a sting or two- I am not allergic. I was just picking him up gently and nudging him to get the angles right. He tolerated me surprisingly well for a wasp though...

Not really sure about either one. Pic #1 has that weird red on the stem. Picture #2 has a much more pleasing composition, and I like the gel effect, but the DOF is just too shallow.

This may sound like a silly question, but how did you get him to stand still long enough to allow you set up the shot?

Okay I'm confused, how did you nudge a wasp with out him simply flying away?

Did you catch it and put him in the freezer?

Well, the OP is from Gainesville, so I'm guessing the wasp is simply a UF Gators fan, and as such, it's not all that smart, or quick. :lmao:
