A local group brings in knights from around the world about two times a year for jousting. It's not scripted and armor and lances are all real and historically correct! This is the third one they have had and so far they have invited me back every time to take pics and have used some in their advertising. It's sooooo much fun!

Few pics from yesterdays event will probably add a couple more if anything exciting happens today ;) DH says this is my version of the Super Bowl heh. I always learn a little more about action/sports photography when I go to these because so much can happen in a short amount of time.

These are great! Personally I like #1 :D

Jousting is Maryland's official state sport. Our annual tournament will be held locally on August 29, 2009. Maybe I'll see what kind of shots I can get! Too bad we only do rings!

Nice photos. Looks like it was really fun and exciting. I prefer the 2nd pic.:)

Nicely done, I like the first pic the best.

I love the first two shots! The second two don't do too much for me, a bit too much motion blur for my tastes.

However, I now know something new, that this still happens. I've always thought jousting was awesome, but never had any clue that people still did it. I need to go see some of this. I would LOVE that.

Thanks for the comments :) Yup it still happens. This is the only group to have it sanctioned by the Royal Arm Armouries of Leeds England and in addition to that this is their first(there have only been 3) to be sanctioned by the International Jousting League. It isn't going on anywhere else in the US, but all over Europe. It's full contact and the points earned from each match toward their international rankings. Re-enactments don't hold a candle to it.

This looks like an absolutely awesome event to be invited to take photographs for.

I love the second for the action, and the third for the bright primary colours and sense of movement. I'm not keen on the vingette in BR corner in the first.
