This came attached to my Crumpler bag, but I can't tell WTF it is...

The tripod tends to bang into your leg while walking if it's hanging below. After a few hours of that, it's downright painful, even if it's not banging hard.

My Lowepro AWII holds my pod up on the bag with a similar pocket for two of the bottom legs as well, and it works very well.

Its the stash for the tripod legs and the black strap is the wrap around to secure it once the tripod set in its place There must be some sort of stap on the side of the camera bag itself that the leg holder secures to via the up and down velco portion of the tripod leg holder unit.

Keen observation, Designer! I will definitely have to keep that in mind if I find myself using the tripod carrier for its original purpose. I guess that's another reason as to why I'd like a tripod to hang, or be tightly fastened to below a camera bag. Thank you for the "heads" up!

Considering that from the photo she is half a brick taller than the tripod and head as attached to the bag, my guess is that she will experience some damage to her head first if she ever does encounter a door head jamb.

Having used the bag quite a bit, I can attest to the fact that it is quite unwieldy when not using the waist strap, or the sternum strap to secure the bag on your shoulders. I wouldn't be so much worried about the height of it lending to damage, as I would just generally turning with the bag on my back and having it hit something. It would be very easy to hit on the frame of a door.

This is to support a tripod! You put the legs into the foot then use the strap to secure it to your bag. You can actually attach it to any bag.

So, I've had a Crumpler Customary Barge Deluxe for the past year or so. Attached to it, came this thing... I can't really tell what it's used for. The only thing I can deduce is that it may be for carrying binoculars.

Here is what you'd see looking at it as if it were hanging off of my bag.

Here is the back of it. The black pull tab unfolds the velcro straps that would attach it to the bag. They're pictured in an upcoming image all opened up.

This is a shot looking down into the attachment. It looks like it's divided to holster a pair of binoculars, but I wouldn't feel safe putting binocs in there. Too afraid they'd fall out. It's possible that the black strap is designed to hold the gear (whatever it may be) in the holster. I can't really be sure.

And finally, this is with the velcro straps opened up.

Any ideas? Last time I checked, the product description on the crumpler site didn't mention it. And it's not listed in the "accessories" section.
