This Is the Camera I Want

I want that camera too but my skills need to improve before I deserve it. Seeing that you're new around here (and to photography), let me just chime in and say that knowing how to use a camera is not the same as being a good photographer so while you're saving up for the D700, you can start learning. The camera you use is a lot less important than you probably realize at this point.

Here is a great start: http://www.thephotoforum.com/forum/...allery/267492-info-those-new-photography.html

Wow. Yeah, that's a great camera, no question. I'd love to have one...someday!
But, let me ask you a question: How long will it take you to have enough to buy this camera? And a lens?
I could be wrong, but I kinda doubt you're gonna find anyone who will "take payments." Now, if you have a credit card you can buy it with, fine...but if you only make payments on the card each month, the interest is really going to up the actual cost of the camera.

Have you EVER used a DSLR? OR a film slr camera? Or have only used point-and-shoots?

If you were my daughter (which I'm just guessing you're young enough to be), I'd suggest that if you THINK you'd like to do photography, aim for something a little less GRAND to start with. The D90 would be a great choice, because it's a great camera itself, but WAY cheaper than the D700, and you can get a couple of lenses, etc.
Then, if you find you really DO get into it and in a year or two you still want the D700, you can still use the same lenses, flashes, whatever other equipment you've gotten.
The D7000 is another great choice, more expensive than the D90 but not as much as the D700.

Seriously...I have done photography for YEARS, used a film slr for many of those years...but started with a D5100. At some point, I'll move up, but until I do, at least I'm actually *shooting* with my D5100 instead of still saving for something three times as expensive.

Wait 2 weeks. D800 announced.

Better yet, save some money, buy this.

It will take me a bit to save up but i'm not in a rush. I have only used point and shoots but like I said, I want to LEARN and I might as well go for one that i'll stick with for years to come. I have no doubt in my mind that i'll really like it... Photographer? Eh, I don't think i'll do it professionally for money and yes I know that just because I have an expensive camera it's going to make me a good photographer right off the bat. Yes i'm young but not THAT young... I've made up my mind and this baby will be mine. Lol! Thanks again for the input and I will definitely read up, do more research, and even check out other cameras.

As far as payments go, I wasn't holding my breath, lol! Never know so thought id ask. :) I breed Geckos and Tarantulas so hopefully I can get the money for the camera and lens when the babies start coming again. :D

Sw1tchFX, Hmmm... I'll think about that one. sounds awesome.

I'm sure you're talking about what I linked when I mentioned save your money.

Yes. :) Also, income tax time is very near, lol! Another thing I have is a very nice Tenor Saxophone that I haven't played in YEARS, I feel bad about such a beautiful instrument just sitting in our garage. :/ Thinking about selling it...

Let's hope your Nikon D700 gets "played" more than your saxophone :)
The F6 is a film camera, not digital, BTW.

Oh definitely. Lol! I can't just carry my sax with me and play randomly while our and about. I can just imagine... Lol!
